Thoughts and Meanderings... (12/21 1900)

My mom and I were talking the other day about children and the fabled "terrible two's". My quick response to that theory was that terrible two's was psychology's first excuse for bad parenting. Then I thought about what I had said...the more and more I thought about it, the more I realized I was right. If psychologists and analysts would stop making up excuses to make parents feel better about their mistakes, maybe they would start taking some responsibility for their children and their actions that are influencing their families. My favorite phrase when it comes to this is "dysfunctional family." mdeians always ham this idea up and i think they're right: who really had a "functional family" by the text book definition? This goes along the same lines as what exactly is normal and normal for who?
