Leo Ryan McClintock

Friday night during the baby shower, I received a call from my OB stating that we needed to get her to the hospital ASAP to have her induced, as her toxemia levels had gotten out of control. Once we got to the hospital they started hooking her up to everything...magnesium sulfate to counter the toxemia, pitosin to induce labor, saline, blood pressure cuff, and her "favorite" catheter. As labor failed to progress they had to break her water and attach the internal monitors. After three hours at 5cm, the OBdecided that a C-section was in everyone's best interests...good thing too, because we later learned, the head wouldn't have fit!

Much to my amazement, even after all the medication they pumped into Dallas, the baby still came out fine...no heart or breathing problems. Everyone came home yesterday after a four day hiatus at St Nix Hospital in downtown San Antonio. Mother and baby are fine...

What he didn't tell you was he was there to take care of me and baby the whole time. He was the most wonderful support person I could have ever asked for. Scott fed me when the medication was too much on my system. He slept in an uncomfortable chair and is glad to be home in his own bed. I really don't have any idea what I would have done if he had not been there. Baby Leo thanks him too. when I was getting taken care of in recovery Daddy was right by his side the whole time. He kept Leo calm and Safe. Gave him a sense of security that only Daddy can.

Now why are you trying to make me cry at work?

I did what I was supposed to. I wasn't always sure I was doing everything right, but I tried my best.

I also want to send a special thanks out to two people. One my sister Jo for being there for Scott and I, bringing him food and checking up on us. And Two I want to Thank Scott's Mom. She was there to support us at the hospital. While we were on our 4 day stay she gave us a nice clean house to come home to. She took care of her grandson while I had some lunch. I'm sure she didn't mind that at all =). She made a wonderful dinner for Scott and I. Thank you so much Grandma for all that you've done.
